For National Absinthe Day, I’m showing how to drink absinthe (the French way and the Czech way) and making 3 absinthe cocktails: Green Beast, Absinthe Spider and Sazerac.

Ingredients

Green Beast

  • 3 slices of Cucumber
  • 1 oz. / 30 ml Water
  • ½ oz. / 15 ml Lime or Lemon juice
  • ½ oz. / 15 ml Simple syrup
  • 1 oz. / 30 ml Absinthe
  • Garnish with 2 slices of Cucumber

Absinthe Spider

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml Absinthe
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitter
  • Top up with Ginger ale (about 4 oz. / 120 ml

Sazerac

  • 1 Sugar cube
  • 4 dashes Peychaud’s bitter
  • Spray the glass with Absinthe
  • 2½ oz. / 75 ml Brandy (or Rye whiskey)
  • Garnish with Lemon peel
