Mortal Kombat cocktails sounded like a terrible idea. Turns out… some of them slap. Today we’re mixing drinks inspired by Noob Saibot, Jade, Quan Chi, Sindel, and Shao Kahn — with aged rum, weird colors, foam, and a suspicious amount of grenadine.
Noob Saibot
- 1½ oz. / 45 ml Dark Rum
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Blue Curacao
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Grenadine
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Orange Juice
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Pineapple Juice
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Lime Juice
- Garnish with Orange peel
- Shake, Old Fashioned glass with ice
Jade
- 1½ oz. / 45 ml Tequila
- ¾ oz. / 22 ml Melon Liqueur
- ½ oz. / 15 ml Fresh Lime Juice
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Agave Syrup
- 6–7 Basil Leaves (muddle)
- Garnish with basil and lemon peel oils
- Shake, Chilled cocktail glass
Quan Chi
- 1½ oz. / 45 ml Gin
- ¾ oz. / 22 ml Blackberry / Blueberry / Creme de Cassis Liqueur
- ½ oz. / 15 ml Dry Vermouth
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- Garnish with Maraschino cherries
- Stir, chilled cocktail glass with black salt or sugar rim
Sindel
- 1½ oz. / 45 ml Black Currant Vodka
- ¾ oz. / 22 ml Creme de Cassis
- ½ oz. / 15 ml Fresh Lemon or Lime Juice
- ½ oz. / 15 ml Egg White or Foamer / Bubble drops
- Peychaud’s bitters — 2 dashes / optional)
- Garnish with smoked cheese pearls
- Shake, chilled cocktail glass
Shao Kahn
- 2 oz. / 60 ml Dark Rum
- ⅓ oz. / 20 ml Amaro
- ½ oz. / 15 ml Orange Juice
- ⅓ oz. / 10 ml Grenadine
- 3 oz. / 90 ml Stout Beer
- Build over ice in a large glass, top with stout
